Playing now through August 1, The Public Theater is pleased to present The Merchant of Venice and The Winter’s Tale in repertory at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Both productions are accessible and comprehensible, florid and moving, and…sparely but gorgeously staged,” wrote Jesse Oxfeld in The New York Observer. Shakespeare in the Park is one of New York City's most beloved summer traditions. New York natives and visitors alike have been enjoying free Shakespeare in Central Park since performances began in 1954. Now 56 years after Joseph Papp first conceived the project, The Public Theater is proud to present Shakespeare in the Park 2010.
